This is the only other type of shield that has 4 sockets on it. So you actually have the option of finding a Rondache or Targe (these are Paladin only shields) with 4 sockets. If you find a white monarch (no sockets) you can take it to Larzuk and add sockets and it will add the max sockets to that item (4 for monarch). I think they might drop in nightmare cows, but I know they drop in hell cows.
